You don’t have to go far to getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. There are multiple glamping spots less than 2 hours away from LA, and if you venture north of County Line, Ventura, California is the quintessential little beach town that California dreams are made of.

We took a last minute trip as an overnight girls glamping getaway and this was our experience:

Our Glamping Getaway Stay:

Waypoint Ventura is a unique RV boutique hotel with 20 glamping options, from fully kitted out remodeled vintage RVs to your own campground, this retro vibe suits city slickers of all kinds.

Tips: You may want to wait until construction of the neighboring building is done, or ask for a discount. They didn’t tell us about that, and I was awoken by the loud pounding super early the next morning.

Book on a weekday, or book way in advance for weekends—(when there is no construction going on). Rates start at $183 for weekdays and $297 for weekends

Where to Eat During your Glamping Getaway:

The Taj Cafe

Address: 574 E. Main Street, Ventura CA - 93001

The food is well priced, large portioned, and super delicious and flavorful. All the curries are amazing! A bit strange to find this Indian food gem in a small surf town, but I’m glad we stumbled upon it!

Where to Grab a Coffee During your Glamping Getaway:

Prospect Coffee

Address: 92 S Laurel St, Ventura, CA 93001

A great local place with unique artisanal drinks, and a chill atmosphere. Don’t be surprised to see the owners working behind the counter. They also source and roast their own beans. A good spot to start the day, if you are craving something unique.

Perfect Place to Play During your Glamping Getaway:

Surfer’s Point, off Figueroa Street

If you are looking for less crowds and chill vibes, this little gem is the best kept secret from agro L.A. surfers. It’s a right handed point break and there is a little beginner’s spot closer to the pier. If you don’t surf, it’s still a great spot to people watch.
